Overview

Going through beautiful Andean landscapes we will immerse ourselves in the path of our ancestors “Apu Salkantay” which in the Quechua language means “Rebel Mountain” alluding to the dense clouds that surround and rise above the low forest. One of the most important snow-capped mountains for the Andean world, considered the sacred mountain and protector in the Inca period, is located in the mountain range of Vilcabamba. It constitutes one of the main elevations in this mountain range to 6,271 m. During our trek, we will have the pleasure of appreciating the exquisiteness of its flora, tropical forests and Andean fauna in its natural state, this route is considered as an alternative access to Machu Picchu.

Itinerary

Day 1

Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa

We will leave early Cusco in transport to go to the village of Mollepata, then Challacancha where we will have lunch. Then we will start the trek for around 3h before arriving to the 1st camp in “Soraypampa”. We will have time to appreciate the snow mountain of “Humantay” who will take care of us during the dinner and night.
Day 2

Soraypampa - Chaullay

After a delicious and healthy breakfast, we will ascend to the highest point of the trek, passing by the pass. We will admire the stunning scenic beauty of the "Apu Salkantay. After this adventure we will serve our lunch. After a relaxing rest we will continue the walk towards Chaullay.
Day 3

Chaullay – La Playa – Santa Teresa

After breakfast, we will continue along trails with abundant vegetation of the area such as orchids, coca, coffee, and fruit trees. We will also see waterfalls on the way, reaching "La playa". After lunch we will board a vehicle to transfer us to Santa Teresa who will be our third camp.
Day 4

Santa Teresa – Hidroeléctrica - Aguas Calientes

After breakfast we will go to the bank of the river Urubamba then to the train station of Hidroeléctrica for our lunch. Following our trek, we will walk for around 2 hours till reaching Machu Picchu village known as “Aguas Calientes”.
Day 5

Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu – Cusco

After breakfast we will take the bus to reach in 30 mn the entrance of the “Seventh Wonder of the world” “Machupicchu”. The visit will be by the main sectors of the Citadel, where you can observe the different techniques of construction of a unique architecture in Peru. 400 years covered by mountains and tropical vegetation where two important areas stand out, urban area made up of squares, temples, royal mausoleums with elegant perfection and agricultural area. After lunch we will take the train back to the Imperial city of Cusco.
